Rare and beautiful set of 2 armchairs Lounge chairs from Fritz Hansen AX Series from Hvidt and Mølgaard Designed in 1947 Upholstered with yellow/mustard leather in very good condition Wood is very good too, one foot needs a little care (please ask for detailled photos if needed before visiting) DESCRIPTION DURING World War II the lamination technique was modernized in connection with the production of the British Mosquito aeroplanes. Fritz Hansen appreciated the more peaceful potential in the technique, and the result was the AX series. The first Danish piece of knockdown furniture. THE AX series was Fritz Hansen's international break-through. The AX marked the beginning of the company's export activities. For a while the series was also produced under license in the USA by Herman Miller. The sides in laminated beech around a core of solid teak wood were incredibly strong.
