Senior Manager for Development Job Description The Senior Manager for Development, based in the New York office, will report to the Vice President for Development. S/he will work closely with the President, trustees, development team, and other staff members of the organization to support the United Board?s development efforts in raising financial and in-kind resources. As a key member of a small but active development team, s/he will plan and implement development activities to achieve strategic goals set out by the Vice President for Development. These activities include, but are not limited to, leading or implementing fund-raising campaigns, including for planned giving; cultivating and nurturing relations with current and potential donors; drafting fund-raising proposals; developing brand-building materials and donor communications; planning donor receptions in various cities in the U.S. and overseas; and managing the overall integrity of the donor database. The Senior Manager will also oversee effective donor relations, including stewardship of permanent and term endowments, and supervise a staff associate. Employment begins as soon as possible. Qualifications and Requirements A Bachelor?s degree with 5 years? of post-qualification experience in fund-raising, preferably in planned gifts, marketing or event management at tertiary institutions or non-profit organizations; strong experience in establishing, implementing, and evaluating new initiatives; some experience in corporate & foundation relations; knowledge of or ability to come up to speed on U.S. laws governing international grant-making, administration of grant reporting by institutions to insure compliance with donor intent, and analysis and evaluation of results; excellent verbal and written communication skills (preferably with an additional Asian language); a creative and innovative spirit; good people skills and high sensitivity to cultural nuances; willingness to commit to the mission and goals of the United Board; willingness to travel locally and internationally Salary and Fringe Benefits Salary is commensurate to qualifications and experience.
