Job SummaryThe NY Manhattan Minority Business Center (NY MBC) is a business development and consulting program of NCRC, which manages the Center through a grant agreement with the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce. NY MBC promotes parity in performance between minority and non-minority companies through offering expert business management and consulting services at affordable rates to qualified Minority Business Enterprises (MBEs). The Director of NY MBC is responsible for the overall management of all Center tasks, meeting the performance metrics established by MBDA, and achieving the internal strategic goals established for the Center by NCRC?s senior staff. The Director reports to NCRC?s VP of Business Development. Essential Functions: ? Provide technical assistance and expert advice to minority entrepreneurs through one-on-one consulting arrangements. Work with clients to develop and implement business plans and growth strategies, increase clients? access to markets through pursuing procurement and contracting opportunities, and increase clients? access to financing through building relationships with local small business lenders in the mainstream financial sector, community development financial institutions, and potential investors. Meet MBDA?s established annual performance metrics. ? Manage and monitor all NY MBC staff and consultants to ensure that the tasks delegated to them are satisfactorily completed in a timely manner and that they provide high-quality service to clients.? In concert with NCRC?s VP of Business Development, develop NY MBC strategy and annual work plan. Implement strategy and work plan independently, while keeping staff informed and focused on executing the tasks that will result successful implementation of strategy and achievement of goals.? Fundraising:o Work with NCRC staff to track fundraising progress and ensure that NY MBC maintains fiscal solvency o Work with NCRC Development Director and staff to identify, develop, prioritize, and pursue funding opportunities and prospective donors? Manage NY MBC budget in cooperation with VP of Business Development and NCRC?s senior executive team.Additional Responsibilities:? Liaise with MBDA to ensure that all reports, correspondence and any other requests for information are delivered in a timely fashion to MBDA. This includes supporting the VP of Business Development in preparing a successful bid to renew NY MBC management contract.? Coordinate with additional NCRC business development initiatives: DC MBC, Washington, DC Women?s Business Center, Small Business Teaming Center, and NCRC Community Development Financial Institution, to leverage individual capabilities and maximize outcomes for clients and funders.? Build relationships with partner organizations that will enable the Center to effectively and efficiently achieve its goals.? Submit weekly reports to VP of Business Development regarding the progress towards the Center meeting its goals and highlighting critical areas needing support from NCRC.? Conduct outreach and host networking sessions, attend events, and otherwise market NY MBC to target audiences.? Produce regular newsletter for distribution to NY MBC contacts database and conduct outreach to the press and other media outlets.? Cooperate with NCRC Membership staff to implement outreach to NCRC member organizations regarding NY MBC services and clients as well as contribute to the annual NCRC National Conference.Competencies: ? Demonstrated commitment to supporting the development of minority entrepreneurs and minority-owned businesses? Familiarity with challenges and opportunities for business development in the New York metropolitan area? Experience providing business management and financial consulting to small businesses? Knowledge of cash flow analysis and financial statements ? Ability to successfully assist clients in securing financing and bonding and developing strategies for procurement and contracting ? Capable of working effectively with a client-base whose members are highly diverse in terms of race, ethnicity, nationality, socio-economic position, educational attainment, family situation, language capability, and business experience? Experience with federal grants management and budgeting? Excellent oral and written communication skillsDesired Qualifications: ? Master?s degree with three years experience overseeing and implementing programs for a non-profit organization or business trade association is preferred? Bachelor?s degree with at least five years of relevant experience with progressively increasing responsibilities may be substituted for advanced degree? Mastery of standard office computing software, including Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe suite? Ability to work independently and with teams?
